The fact that from the start, you can cast pain with no health penalty is great. I'm a 10th level deep dwarf necromancer, and I'm down to dungeon level 11.

Ring of Sustanence + Amulet of Gourmand (optional) on vault 7 and you can grind without fear of dying from hunger.I'm doing great with my current character. And all those areas can usually be cleared with one book. By the time you've cleared dungeon 25+, lair, swamp, snake pit, orc mines, hive and most of the elf area you should have a respectable spell library, several solid artifacts and a good level. Ice Bolt is amazing in the swamps because it leaves freezing clouds, even without elec. If you can find either Isks Blast or you get real lucky and get Dispel Undead almost nothing can stop you except a few rare things such as Ice Dragons in the main dungeon, lair, etc. That one book will clear almost everything pre-lair for you. Use the ice bolt as back up when you need to take down dangerous mobs like spiney toads or hydras. Build Ice and Conj with Throw Frost till you can toss the level 6 ice bolt. Turn air and poison off once you have them at level 1. M.Dart and M.Cloud obviously to start with. My personal most reliable combo for going the distance is a deep elf conjurer with the frost book.

Speed is great and will get you through the early game, but if you dont get lucky with resistances you will get toasted with a quickness. Their problem comes at higher levels when they can only wear robes for armor and cant get resistances from gloves, hard hats or boots. Even at low level with just m.dart and m.cloud they are set for almost anything. Spriggan casters with a rod of energy (foodless spell casting) are beasts. The beauty is the longer it runs, the less likely you are to die since you'll have more armor and more HP. As long as you didnt trigger any slimes you should be able to leave that near indefinitely and rack up the xp. From here, set your space bar up to the macro "5zaf" and set something heavy on it. If you get lucky from the million daggers that drop, use a protection branded weapon.

Magic Dart can be cast easily even in ring mail, spend 100k turns or so on level 1 farming little stuff. Start as a caster, search till you find some ring mail, then play melee till you have armor, fighting and you obviously started with spell casting&conj. Mummies can be almost automated if you set it up right. Starts with his god and powerful abilities come quickly. Virtually no armor or weapon requirements. For example, if you want a real easy time getting into learning the game, a Troll Berzerker works great. Mountain Dwarf Fighters are an OK class to start out as, but not nearly as simple or as powerful as other classes. If you run out of Orc followers you can always try to return to the Mines later I've had some luck with finding more Orcs even after I've cleared the whole thing out thousands of turns before.ĮDIT: If you're wondering about the conversation about mummies, older version's of Stone Soup let you rest for Spellbooks if you followed Sif Muna. Be sure to pray over all/any fallen Orcs for piety. I always pick up and keep all my potions of mutation and will quaff one everytime I pick up a potion of remove mutation.ģ.) Hill Orc Priests usually just need to make it to the Orc Mines to see a serious power upgrade. While there are plenty of mutations that will affect you in a negative fashion you might luck out and get one of the beneficial one.
